I think that the reason why you can't find the exactly correct fully assembled front strut will be down to aftermarket sources who use aftermarket parts will only offer a very small variety of struts, springs, top bearing and top mounts.

For example, possibly something like 15 different front springs from VW and something like 5 different front springs from aftermarket sources.

The other issue that VW sold a different selection of models in different sales areas, that can mean only 3 door of a certain model version but not the 5 door one.

The 3 door/5 door issue tends to relate more to rear suspension, so probably not an issue in your case.

Your best plan will be to build up your own strut assembly by buying Sachs struts, Lesjofors springs and just VW top bearing, top mounting and bump stop. In my experience, the strut will not come with the protective gaiter retainer type that the original VW strut will have, but you can just transfer it over from your original VW strut.

I hope that you are planning on replacing both front struts.

Edit:- also be aware that every bolt and nut you remove needs to be replaced with new items.

Definately go with sachs shocks, are yours electronic dampers?
They aint cheap if they are to replace tbh.
I have the original electronic genuine vw dampers on mine & one was throwing a light on the dash when after hitting a dirty big pothole so had to buy new ones from vw . So replacing both fronts not just the broke one.
Im putting eibach pro springs on with them . Waiting for a nice day to do it at moment .
