The right taillight on my 2012 Polo doesn't turn on when checking the voltage of the right. There is no voltage with the tail light on, but when the brake is pressed, I get full 12V as I would expect and the bulb lights up. Comparing it to the left, which is working, I get 5.3V for the taillight.
I've checked the wiring for any obvious damage that could be easily assessed and all the fuses.

It would be advisable to remove and disassemble the right taillight and check for rust/corrosion damage around the connector and bulb holders.
