After the Alternator installation the repinning of the green T4 connector (LIN, insulation of old wires -PWM, DF-).
AGM battery in optimal condition after more than a week stored.
I'm going to install the alternator in the garage in case any problems arise with the 'new' one, so there will be few photos of the process due to the lack of light.
However, the installation process is very similar to the one I did for the 140A alternator in our Golf 7.5.

Before replacing the Alternator in my Eco-friendly project 
, I replaced the battery monitor connector with one that has a safety locking mechanism, which is the most common type used for these systems in the VW Group.
Note: There are more possible references.
This 4F0 reference is used in Porsche.

Today I've been checking the Energy Recovery function in our Golf 7.5.
Once the appropriate conditions are met (Battery State of Charge -SoC-, Battery State of Health -SoH-, according to the parameters/algorithms... and many other requirements - electrical consumers, temperatures -), in my case, during acceleration the voltage remains at or drops to 12.8V, while during deceleration or coasting, the voltage instantly rises to ~14.8V. This means that the Energy Recovery function, alternator freewheel pulley, and software of the units involved are working perfectly.
Note: This happens the same way whether the Start/Stop function is activated or deactivated, and also in any driving MODE.
For example: If you leave the vehicle parked for several days, the battery's SoC will drop, so the Energy Recovery function will only work once the SoC reaches the appropriate value (~80%), that is, after driving for half an hour to an hour (voltage above 14V).

I couldn't test the 6C0915181'D' Battery Monitor because the AliExpress store sent me one with the wrong software. I will test the accuracy of the 6C0915181'D' software later.
Fortunately, I have two other Battery Monitors, the 6C0915181'B' and a 7E0915181'K' (T6), which work perfectly.

-Serial number (10 digits): 05052026DT in my case. This is the battery installation date for future reference. You can enter any number/name/digits you want, for example, 666VAGHELL
, but keep in mind that changing even a single digit of the previous battery's serial number will cause the system to think you've installed a new battery.
Once the coding is done, the alternator, exits the 13.3V protection mode, and resumes supplying the charge correctly, ~14.5V.
For testing, it is recommended to have a digital voltmeter connected in the cabin for 'instant readings', and even better if it is installed.

Okay, with diagnostic tools connected to OBD2 (VCDS, VCP, ODIS, etc.) you have the possibility of seeing all the data in real time through the measurement values (SoC, Temps, Generator, etc.), but logically it is safer to observe the instantaneous readings of the voltmeter during road tests.
Tests:
Battery charge management and energy recovery functions work perfectly with both battery monitors, just as I explained in the tests I performed on our Golf7.5.

- UPD, May 13, 2026: 7E0915181K, 200 km, works perfectly in all possible traffic conditions. I would say I really like how the battery recovery and charge management are programmed, and it's nice to see the voltage variations on the voltmeter in the center console.
- UPD2, May 14, 2026: 6C0915181B, 100 km, works just as well as the 7E0. Both SWs (7E0...K and 6C0...B) are from late 2016. This makes sense because the management is done by the BCM/GW/BattReg and the battery monitor is just the sensor that sends all the data coming from the negative terminal of the battery.

- UPD, May 13, 2026: 7E0915181K, 200 km, works perfectly in all possible traffic conditions. I would say I really like how the battery recovery and charge management are programmed, and it's nice to see the voltage variations on the voltmeter in the center console.
- UPD2, May 14, 2026: 6C0915181B, 100 km, works just as well as the 7E0. Both SWs (7E0...K and 6C0...B) are from late 2016. This makes sense because the management is done by the BCM/GW/BattReg and the battery monitor is just the sensor that sends all the data coming from the negative terminal of the battery.

Battery monitor 6C0915181D with HW10 SW9070.
Update to the previous post.
After returning the one I bought from the AliExpress store and receiving a quick refund after providing the required evidence (scan), I bought a 6C0915181D battery monitor from a local auto salvage yard.
I cleaned it, but I also had to polish it to remove the typical corrosion (dark stains) and sulfation from the donor car battery (SK Fabia, I don't know which one).
I did it with a mini polisher, sponge, and a little fine cutting compound. Naturally, the protective electroplating (galvanizing) wore off in some small spots, so it's highly likely I'll repaint it with spray paint (primer, color, lacquer).
However, I'm not too bothered about protecting it, it is easily solvable, and besides, I like the mirror finish...
It works just as well as the previously tested Battery Monitors (7E0K and 6C0B).
Due to their good performance, I do not have sufficient capabilities to make a comparison between them.
Additional observations on the Eco-friendly project:
Now, the fuel consumption at idle, under 'normal' conditions, is 0.5 l/h (1.2 TSI). Before this Eco-friendly project, with the old alternator, it never dropped below 0.6 l/h, so it's already reducing consumption at this point.
A short video showing how it recovers energy during deceleration -breaking or coasting- (14.7V) or how the engine works less hard during acceleration (12.9V).
Before the Eco-friendly project, the voltmeter permanently read ~14.4V. thus increasing total consumption.
For example (image rescued from other previous improvements):

Now, once the requirements are met, when you see 12 to 13V on the voltmeter you are consuming less when accelerating (and more power), and when you see 13 to 14V on the voltmeter the energy is 'free'.
2 to 5 little donkeys more.
90HP + Stage1 = 125HP... + 2HP = 127HP.
Note:
-The state of charge (SoC) is approximately 80% of the battery capacity (EFB or AGM) because this leaves a margin of 20% to 'inject' the energy from the energy recovery phase into the battery.
-Voltage values can vary from 14.9V to 12.1V depending on several parameters (SoC, Temps, consumers...).

UPD after several kilometers/milles:
-'It's super satisfying'.
Recommended AGM batteries if 60Ah:
- VARTA A8 or EXIDE EK600. Both batteries are designed with the latest generation AGM technology, ideal for Start-Stop systems with regenerative braking that demand a very high charge acceptance rate. They charge twice as fast as conventional AGM batteries.
I would have chosen the EXIDE EK600 (TUDOR), but I have to admit that the VARTA does a fabulous job!

-'It's super satisfying'.
Recommended AGM batteries if 60Ah:
- VARTA A8 or EXIDE EK600. Both batteries are designed with the latest generation AGM technology, ideal for Start-Stop systems with regenerative braking that demand a very high charge acceptance rate. They charge twice as fast as conventional AGM batteries.
I would have chosen the EXIDE EK600 (TUDOR)

I'm still waiting for some parts, but these are some I've 'carefully selected' for my 6R and its next 100,000 km.

Brakes:
256mm front, 232mm rear (same as stock).
I will test the ATE 'ceramic' pads, to try to keep the rims clean.

I'm not upgrading to 288mm FN3 front discs because comparatively the braking power of the 256mm FSIII front discs is already balanced by my 17" wheels and stock R-line/Sport suspension. As you already know... 'for better braking, larger tires are generally better than slightly larger discs'.

Ceramic brake pads require new discs without holes or evacuation grooves on the contact surface.
Brake discs and pads are replaced not only due to wear (dimensions), operating conditions (temperatures, micro temperatures, weather, salt, etc) cause the brake system materials to lose effectiveness.
My original brake discs and pads (100,000km - 14 years), based on my driving style, could last another 50,000 km if we consider their dimensions, but I'm replacing them to try and improve performance in the next 100,000km.
Brake fluid replacement.
VW DOT 4.
(My) One-way valve bleeding method, combined with erWin instructions.
It will help maintain or improve brake effectiveness. Now is the ideal time.
1JS rear shock absorbers (6R0513025A). (Related: 1JS rear springs).
Awaiting delivery together the mountings, jounce bumpers, etc.
It will also help maintain or improve the effectiveness of the rear brakes. Now is the ideal time.

In my case, SACHS is the original supplier.
Some of the cleaners and lubricants to ensure everything runs smoothly and provide greater longevity to the parts when performing these small tasks.

Since the installation of the WRMs took little time, I took the opportunity to do something else...
Battery terminal protectors.
Lightly apply pure petroleum jelly/vaseline to the felt rings/washers for maximum effectiveness. Highly effective on lead-acid and EFB battery terminals, and also, though less necessary, on AGM battery terminals, as they act as a shield against external moisture.

After 14 years, the original VW round black stickers where the hood rubber stops rest had deteriorated due to poor quality
, and I had to go to the trouble of putting on these square pads to support the weight of life.
I install them square just to do something different, although I prefer round ones.

POLO 6R 1.2 TSI. Fuel filter replacement.

Some sources recommend turning the ignition switch two or three times before starting the engine to prime the filter, but I tried starting it directly to test it, and it started perfectly on the first try. (another urban legend?)
We take a short summer drive and check again for leaks. It's not necessary to jack up the car for this check.
One of the main reasons for changing the fuel filter with the pressure regulator valve is to prevent the fuel pump in the tank from having to work harder due to wear of the filter regulating valve spring.
