Engine Warning light - any ideas?

Post by Polonut »

Hiya Guys
2020 Polo Match 55000. Today (hot day) engine warning light on!
Car running without any misfires, or any noises.
All levels correct.
Got home, and lifted bonnet - no visual problems - heard what sounds like a very quiet electric motor running (very low noise) rad fan not turrning.
Any immediate ideas come to mind - . When car cools down will check the fan connection. BUT will fan failure be described/included as a legitimate cause for engine light
Ideas welcomed
Thanks

OBD is the first step if you can't see anything visually.

As you say OBD is the only way!
when connected - full search revealed the air intake purge sensor at fault. Disconnected, then reconnected - fault then cleared since no re occurace.
Must but one myself - any recommendations for simple but inexpensive unit?
Thanks
