Polo 6R alarm randomly going off in the middle of the night.

Hi guys, I’ve recently encountered an issue with my 13-plated Polo GT where the alarm randomly goes off during the middle of the night. It’s gotten so bad that it’s genuinely started ruining my sleep schedule, especially as I have to be up by 7am.

The alarm can trigger randomly at any point from when the car is locked around 9pm all the way through to when I need to take it to work around 7am. Sometimes it goes off multiple times throughout the night, and I’ve now had to start leaving the keys with my dad or brother so they can unlock and lock the car again when it goes off, as they usually are either awake when it goes off during the night or can wake up faster than me to turn it off

I’m very inexperienced when it comes to looking at issues with cars and honestly have pretty much no knowledge about what could be causing this apart from a battery issue which cant be the case as mine is literally brand spanking new. I’ve been recommended to post on here to see if anyone has any ideas or has experienced something similar, as I’d rather get some advice before attempting to fix anything myself or taking it to a garage.

Any advice on what could be causing the alarm to randomly trigger would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Joking aside about flies or aliens, it's a real nuisance that's disrupting the whole family's sleep. Fixing it is the number one priority.

I would start by replacing the interior sensors (to the side-behind the dome lights) if I can't run a scan (diagnostic tool) to find the cause.
I'm sure you can find them cheaply secondhand or even new... Cheaper than a doctor to get a good night's sleep back.

I assume you've already checked all the car's locks... trunk, hood, doors.
However, clean them thoroughly and apply a light coat of spray-on lock lubricant.

Can you disable the interior sensor with the switch when you initially lock the car ? This would eliminate that sensor as a cause and aid diagnosis further.

On the other hand, perhaps it's precisely the recent battery replacement—which is literally brand spanking new—that's causing the alarm to go off randomly.

Let me explain:
New batteries have been in warehouses, in stores and on shelves for a while before their sale, which means their state of health (SoH) is in factory condition (brand new), but their state of charge (SoC) has decreased during this storage time, which is perfectly normal. If sales turnover left a battery for a longer period of time the SoC will be lower -this is not a problem if it is subsequently installed properly taking into account some basic rules-. This battery will be just as new as the others with which it was stored.

If a battery with a low SoC is installed, and if from the beginning of its use the vehicle is driven on short trips -ten minutes or less- adding some usual consumption (telephone charging, navigation/infotainment systems, sound amplifiers, appropriate or inappropriate devices...) without the alternator being able to bring the battery to its optimal SoC, the alarm may go off due to insufficient voltage on the new battery.

If this were the case, to overcome this condition there are two options:
-Charge the battery with an external battery charger so that it reaches its optimal SoC. Cheap option.
-Take a trip of at least one hour, once a week, so that the battery reaches the optimal SoC.
