Take the air box off and look down at the inlet manifold or Throttle body

- if you have four injector all in a row with fuel feed from a common rail and electrical connection on each injectors with a throttle butterfly that doesn't look like much more than a simple butterfly valve - it's a multipoint

- if you have an over sized throttle body (it looks like a carb) with fuel feed and electrical conections to it - it's a singlepoint

Or a little bit easier....... because i dunno your Registrationsystem....
If your car is manufactured before 8/95 its SPI, after 8/95 its MPI.
Or does your original REV Counter ends @7000 its the SPI, @6500 its the MPI.....

Cheers

mine is '97 1L so according to this its MPI, but rev counter is up to 7000rpm so would make it SPI :? according to manual though its the 50bhp model (ooozes power eh :wink: ) and therefore MPI.

Oh sorry Dudes, somehow i have read 1.6 8V instead of 1.4 16V. :-(
So let me explain amlittle bit:

1.6 8V
from 9/94-8/95 = AEA = SPI = Revcounter ->7000 (75hpb)
from 8/95-9/99 = AEE = MPI = Revcounter ->6500 (75hpb)

1.4 8V:
from 8/95-9/99 = AEX, AKV... = MPI = Revcounter ->6500 (60hpb)

1.3:
from 9/94-8/95 = ADX = SPI = Revcounter ->7000 (55hpb)

1.0:
from 9/94-7/96 = AEV = SPI = Revcounter ->7000 (45hpb)
from 8/96-9/99 = AER, ALL = MPI = Revcounter ->7000 (5hpb)

So thats for the first couple of motors/Engines in the mk4 Polo...

Cheers
