Am really unsure what to get to replace mine. I was thinking of going with the JBLs, or maybe some Magnats (as fitted to metz's). Though thinking about it, I wouldn't mind getting some bigger speakers...

Ive got some infinity kappa 8.7cm efforts in mine. Proper good speakers. 105W peak, 35W rms. Cost £50 a couple of months ago. Proper 2-way as well - with huge boxes half way along the wiring that splits up the signals for the tweeter and woofer. Its not much of a woofer though. :P Would go well with a set of 6x9s id imagine, they certainly work very well in my car.

I'm liking the sound of some of those figures. And it only requires a bit of shaving on the holes. I might just have a look.

Get some 'bass blockers' or suitable capacitors to cut some low frequency off them. Theres a guide on matey-matey on how to do it. Means you won't get any horrible distorsion.

might have to do that even though the JBLs seem to have a small amount of that built in

thinking i might have slightly blown one of them with too much bass boost :(
