Boot Layout

Post by sylonien »

Hello.

Now that I've got the basic amp and sub in the boot. I'm thinking about how to put it so it looks better, etc.

'cos I've got a sub box just sat there with some velcro's stuck to the carpet, but the problem is the amp's just lying there. Not good basically.

I was thinking of creating my own box to fit in to the spare wheel bit (obviously ditching that stupid wheel, which could save my day someday, but who gives a crap right now)! :D

Or I could just leave it like that and stick the amp on to the backseats. What do you guys reckon? Or what have you done with the boot so far?

P.S: The thought of ditching the spare wheel is to reduce some weight and hoping to increase that tiny little bit of torque if possible. :P

I velcro'd the amp to the top of the sub box. Good for pulling it all out at the same time when I had to fill the boot with work stuff

If your looking for ideas there are tons of pics on polo9n.com of boot installs 8)

Thanks.

Actually I just did the kinda same stuff 2 days ago, but I "screwed" my amp on top of my sub box, it's all in the left corner now.

And I took the spare wheel out.

placing the amp on the sub box is not a good idea. first of all its easy to steal all in one go, second of all the vibrations will not too the elctrical components any good. If you look at all the half decent installs the amp is always mounted elsewhere.

@Carmadaaron - The earth is beneath me. :P Na, kiddin'. Yeah I earthed mine on the left behind the "medic-kit" bit, that's why I placed my amp there.

@Zahir - I'm not toooo bothered, if it breaks I'll just get another one, still working now even though I hammered it quite a bit with my bass. But wouldn't it be kinda the same where you put it anyway since, you know, the whole car vibrates anyway!!! :P But thanks for the tip. ;)

What is? Where I connected my "earth" cable? Then yes, 'cos there is an actual earthing point behind that "medic kit" bit, where VW have connected other cables to it. Just have to "carefully" pull the carpet thingy out which covers that wheel arch bit and you'll see it, quite straight forward. :P
