K&N 57i kits!!!!

Post by simon pope »

Right: Recently bought a 57i kit, ive taken the original pan filter out connected the small cone filter to the main pipe, ive then fead the cold air pipe down to the front grill so its like RAM AIR, gives a lovely induction noise!!!! 8) but the thing is ive noticed that you can get a kit that sits on the throttle body which means i can get rid of the horrible looking ait filter cover. If anyone can help id be greatful.
cheers

i have one on the tb and the problem is that the filter is sat in a field of air that can easily reach 60 oC so its not good for power so the way you have it is better

Cheers i guess that sounds about right, i dont really think having the kit on improves the performance but it makes a nice gruntty noise nothing 'boy racerish 'though i aint no cheese myster!!!!! i guess once i get my exhaust system fitted it may sound even better!!!! I was thinking of going for a MINTEX £130.00 back box upswept oval, they were at inters seem ok?????

well if you cough uop the extra for a cat back you will gain power and get a better exaust note but it depens on what you want
be it performance or looks or sound
when i bought mine i wnated all the above so i asked around and bought a madac cat back with no middle silencer which i love the sound of and i did notice some gains the sond is quite deep but when you really start thrashing it at about 3.5-4k it makes the deepest sound ive heard on a polo which you can almost feel
im sure someone who heard it at inters can chime in on what they thought
however in order to get madac you might have to go through me as i dont beleve there is a uk importer and mine was the prototype

Go to Halfords and buy some 10K Boost. It costs £25, you spray half the tin into your inlet (remove the air filter first) hold the revs @ 2500rpm for 10 mins, spray the rest of the tin in then go for a 20min drive.

The first spray loosens all the gunk and carbon, and the drive kicks it out of the exhaust.

Tests have proven you can get up to 15bhp out of this. but it works best on engines over 65K miles.

When i did it on mine i didn't notice any performance gains, but it definatly revved clean and quicker, and fuel economy increased slightly.

PS this is available for Diesels as well, and apperently works better

Do you perhaps have a pic to show me where to spray it? I don't exactly know my way round engines!

altite there matey??
take the cover off where ya air filter sits, big plastice cover with 6 or 7 clips holdin it on, u will then see the throttle body, start the car up get someone to sit and hold the revs at about 2 grand and using the throttle body cleaner give it a few sharp squirts onto the throttle body (it will cough and splutter a bit but its ok). u should see a load of black smoke come out the back. hope this helps.
