Power wire for amp

Post by neilw »

How have you guys got the power cable for your amps from the engine bay into the cabin. My gti is in hundreds of pieces on the drive way but I still cannot see a way thru. Theres loads of sound deadening in the way and i can't see any gromets like there were on my old mk4.

I've seen one place where i maybe able to drill, but getting the drill there looks like it will be tricky!

Any help much appreacated.

Dont use a drill what ever u do!!!
Find one of the gromets not being used, otherwise cut into and exsisting gromet and poke the wire through. A coat-hanger might help with this. Under the glove box pull the carpet away and reach up, you will find your hole eventually!

Ok mate, get on your knees and stick your head up by the pedals. Look just behind and above the brake pedal and you'll see a very small grommet which is already feeding a small clump of wires through the bulkhead.

Now look in your engine bay, to the left hand side (drivers side), behind the water container, you will see the same grommet, with a small clump of wires being fed through.

Get your power wire and strap it to a wire coat hanger, bend it so you can get it to poke through this hole. Go back inside the car behind the brake pedal, grab hold of it and yank it through.

It's a proper pain in the arse to do but i'm sure you'll get there in the end.

Hope this helps in some obscure way.:p
