Lowering at 40mm?

Hi, im new to this forum just wondering im planning to buy a set Gmax springs which will drop my polo mk4 with 15" rims to 40mm and i was just wondering would be ok to use the factory shock absorbers? I was told anything over 40mm i would need to buy dampers is that true? Any one with any advice. Cheers . James

yes generally past -40mm it is advisable to upgrade shocks aswell
