Hi, i'm a newbie with a question

Post by Nobby »

Hi everyone,:D

just bought my first polo (8)'94L mk3 Boulevard hatch) about 3 weeks ago, had it serviced etc... only now, when i stop the engine after a run and try to start it within a few minutes of stopping, it wont start again. Tried turning it over for 10 secs, leaving for 1 min and trying again (like it says in the handbook) and sometimes engine starts if you keep firing, but mostly have to leave it til it's cooled off, when it starts no probs.

Have looked around the forum and checked out strings regarding engine cut outs, and there seems to be a lot of talk about temp senders (blue/black) and ecu's.
Any help would be fantastic.

Thanx
Nobby :?

wierd....

i'd say fuel vaporisation but i thought that was mainly a carb issue

you haven't bought a car thats had a sneaky carb conversion done to it by a previous owner have you? :D

sounds wierd. i'd first go along the regular process of making sure all the regular service points are covered - ie oil & filter changed SOME time in the last 10k miles, air filter not clogged, basic ignition components (plugs/leads/dizzy cap and rotor) all in good condition?

Hi again :D

Sorted. Simple really, page 6 of the Haynes. Squirty squirty on the ignition and fuel system electrical connectors.
I think they must have been getting condensated going from cold to hot and back to cold again. Not used to this car thing yet.

Will get a piccie of my cart up soon
