Would you or wouldn't you?

Post by Krupa »

Had an encounter with a Barry prick earlier that's making me think about things.

This happens on a fairly frequent basis, I'll be driving somewhere (to get a takeaway for example, or like tonight I was going to Sainsbury's) at my usual moderate pace (through town) and all of a sudden something appears behind me.

A pair of angry Corsa lights and some green LED washer jets... oh great.

These rapidly disappear out of view with the Barry deciding to tailgate me. Probably a 1.0 12v but I'm not up for racing when it's in town. I keep the needle on 30 and carry on for a bit.

Roundabout comes up, I go around and the road straightens. Next thing I know there's this loud PHARRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTT noise and the Corsa overtakes me (slowly!) and roars off into the distance.

I'm getting sick of this behaviour, these idiots who just can't leave a guy in a modified car alone.

Looking at my car the main thing which makes it look modified is the alloys. They're big, they're silver.

So I'm wondering, is it time to ditch the 15" alloys for some 14" Mk2 Golf steelies wrapped in nice Bridgestone rubber with the black centre caps like these?

go with either, as its unlikely that they saw your wheels from behind anyway, although Im using bridgestone re720's on my GT and cant fault them. Even if your car was completely standard you'd probably still get the barries after you..

the golf steelies do look nice, but for true stealth you need to get some knackered and kerbed wheel trims with massive ty-wraps to hold them in place

I may have some Golf MK2 8v 14" BBS Alloys going for sale soon, depends on what car I'm getting next though...

I don't think that you were getting any special treatment... this happens to me all the time. Tailgaiting, revving, driving like true nobs. And half the time I'm in a Renault Kangoo!!

Happens to me all the time too, but as i only have 1ltr and can barely outrun a slug i have to jump on the brakes and drive at 10mph till they pass giving me the rods.

Then i just get angry and wish i could catch em :-)

they didn't race you cause of the wheels.

Its cause they thougt you were driving a 1.0l - you'd be suprised how many people haven't heard of the G40 or even the GT

Near unanimous here too then, stick with what I have.

@Petrified: How much are you after for the Golf BBS wheels? I need something to run around on while I get my wheels refurbished and they sound damned tempting.

my idea, keep a g40 in disguise so when the barry boy goes to overtake, drop ur foot and wave goodbye!

i used to get tailed alot when i had just wheels, but no i have thje zorst, induction kit, and lowered, i haven't had it so much!

i try not to break speed limits in town, thats just asking for trouble!
