Top Gear

Post by GroovyCarrot »

For those of you watching Top Gear tonight, look out for some brief glimses of my ugly mug, I was in the audience when it was recorded on wednesday  Don't think I'm in any shots properly, you'll be able to see my maroon jumper through the window of a renault espace, and I'm standing to the left of the sensible cars board, again in a maroon jumper. Happy hunting ;)

That would be nice..i'd like to try for the 30min lap time in my beast :-)

There must be some excuse we can email topgear with in order for them to look at our cars...hmmmm...see if the stig falls asleep trying to do a lap in a 1ltr.

Well, after all that the glass on the espace was too dark even to see my jumper through, and they cut out the other scene where I would have been on camera :( Shame.

There's a photo of me in the sticky of members' photos at the top of the page, not that it'll do much good now :)

I was thinking of taking the polo to the nurburgring before I sell it, just for the novelty value of it :D If enough of us went, I'm sure we could get top gear to come and laugh at us :)

Cool, almost your 15 minutes of fame eh? How did you get on there? is it invite only or can you apply for tickets? We should get a group to apply and attend and remember to bring the uk-p banner! ha ha ha, that would be a suprise for jeremy when we whip it out for all to see, how cool would that be? (the banner for those who are wondering what I'm on about!)

Polos on Top Gear? Surely not?

organise a group outing, everyone goes out at once in front of a cadre of beemers and porsches to just generally get in their way

my apologies mr german policeman, i was not able to pull right to allow your 911-driving friend by, as i was overtaking another polo at the time.. i was making good progress on that, then we hit kesselchen and it all went pear shaped in the speed and gearing depot ... his 1-litre 4-speed vs my 5-speed

i was looking hard as i could mr carrot but didnt spot you.. there were enough blokes gurning into the camera to put me off looking after a while. did spot a maroon jumper a couple times but always from the elevated rear view. sorry like.

1-litre mk3 vs the Suzuki Liana? (doesn't that mean penis in hawaiian?)
The stig in one.... jezza in the other... then swap ends.

Seriously if he can't get acceleration out of a *twin turbo* diesel, then there's no hope for him, always on the redline or otherwise (maybe they should fit a CVT to it?)

How tall are you?

There was someone quite tall wearing something maroon near the back on the left of the espace, in front of the "o" of the Top Gear banner. I could arrange a screen grab if you like...

Deek.

I'm 5'11". I was standing just to the right of the pillar between the front and rear doors.. managed to catch two glimpses of my jumper running the video back in slow motion :? I think you can sort of see me in the elevated shots of the stage, I'm over on the right of the stage most of the time. Nothing worth writing home about though.

As for tickets, I got them through a friend of a friend who works for the BBC, but you can apply for them at www.applausestore.com - they're free, and the show is filmed at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey every Wednesday afternoon, 2:00 - about 7:00.

Tahrey, not sure it's fair to say he couldn't get accelleration out of that jag.. I know he's not a great driver and he was beaten by about 40 seconds by Sabine, but she's been driving the track since she was three years old, he'd had about 5 attempts and only took a couple of minutes more than a professional in an Enzo, I think that's pretty good going really.

They were saying at the start of the show how they have a game as they watch the audience come in of 'Spot the Subaru Owners Club member' (this week it was a bit easy, as he came in full Team Subaru rally gear  Maybe we could give them a new game of 'Spot the UK-Polos member' :) There were actually quite a few polos there, including a couple of very nice looking 6n 16v's.. went in my dad's car though so couldn't leave any flyers :(

Ah yes, that looks like me from the chin down :D I spent most of that scene admiring the condition that the espace was in. Could have just rolled out of the showroom - didn't realise anyone cared enough about them to keep one in that condition

The man in the grey sweater to the right of the espace is my dad, who managed to get a slightly better place :)
