Bit of guidance please

Post by James0121 »

Hello ppl

As you may have seen i have posted a few posts regarding exhausts, i just can’t work out which make to get and what style. I first though about a dtm then went of the idea then thought about a custom built twin exit but thought that might be bit over the top. so what exhausts do ppl from the polo forum have ?
What do you recommend?
And what style do I go for ?

Just to let you know i have a 1998 1.4 8v :)

Cheers James

I have a longlife one, but without the centre silencer it was deafening. Be careful!

jetex, powerflow, supersprint are all good, do you want loud or modest?

I like my oval exit (oo err) but it's up to you

How loud is loud? I've been looking at the jetex for our polo. But I really don't want another car that registers 105dB at 3k

I like the oval on yours 8) but really think like the twin look too. Although not really interested in the DTM look.

i think any of the above makes are fairly modest (not loud)

loud was "oh my god it hurts" pressure rater than volume. Make sure the rear silencer is actually a silencer (mine isn't!)

very pleased with it now tho - but it can be hit and miss - hopefully someone with an 8v will help you out

david, is yours a 16v? Looking at the Jetex because I'm really after something that is sporty  yet not much louder than standard. Because she really hates mine. Try 3inch internal bore from turbo back with not alot in the way  it shakes the double glazing on the house

Sorry about the thread hijack :)

yeah it is a 16v

problem is on the motorway - revs at 4000 to 4500 rpm... so it can be loud

I would recommend going for a branded one - jetex start at about 300 for a cat back stainless jobby - but I have never heard what they are like...

i have a movie of mine.... sounds nice:

Need a brand to get trade  just got to decide which one. Jetex do have a reputation for being one of the not so loud sports exhausts 8)

Yours does sound good, but it would suit the GF really  oh and its not that loud  :P

it's pretty noticable in the car

i had to put the centre silencer BACK in! it was really uncomfortable - huge pressure at 3k and tickover. ouch. not volume like jap exhausts - but pressure. not good at all

i like it - doesn't sound like a 1.4 unlike some exhausts....
