polo problem

Post by Polomad-babe »

Hi people,

Just need to find out if i haven't the only insane polo on this site. I have a bit of a problem with the car :? ! the oil in my dipstick keeps increasing and i have had the car since july and never put any oil in it (unless the vw garage has) its very odd indeed.
My bfriends in the car trade and has never heard of it before, i have no other problems with the car and everything else looks ok under the bonnet. Help!! If anyone has heard of similar problems it would be great to know and any ideas what i should do???

Cheers guys

i wish mine had that problem id be laughing then!!
I take it you are checking the oil after the car has been left to stand for a while, giving it time to settle, as ive had this proble with an old Escort i had once put more oil in, put too much in a filled the air filter with oil!!! not a good idea :(

If you use the car for predominantly short trips, the oil never gets hot enough to evaporate the moisture it picks up. So the less you use the car, the more oil you appear to have. However, if you kane it for a good hour or so, the mess and water the oil picked up will have gone. The level should be lower then too.

OTOH: if you know the oil gets to working temperature regularly this doesn't apply and I'm of no use. Again!~

alex i seriously doubt that water in the il could make it bad enough even to notice (apart from the mayo)
as i said on msn id run a flush additive in a service with filter and then a week later run another full service so that any oil ways are clear but if after that it still rises smell the oil and if it smells of petrol and the car starts easily then it could be a leaking injector and/or bad piston ring

You're probably right, I've never seen it IRL anyway. It doesn't sounds too far off does it?

*hopes not*
