I think the main thing that is buggering me up is my age, just cant seem to find anything decent. My dad has rang up a few companies, some of them wont insure me under his name because Im 18 and the car has alloys. Whats all that about?

Ageism!? is that a word?

It's your age and a modification that is the problem....

a mod is a mod, insurance companies dont care what kind of mod....

ring round for quotes yourself, your dad might just be ringing big named companies, it's the little unheard of ones that you need to be ringing.

BIG NAMES = BIG PRICES

i blame TFTF for making kids think they can automatically walk into a hot modded car at 17 and get away without paying for it through the nose

fact of life:

young = high insurance
powerful car = high insurance
modified car = high insurance
bad location = high insurance

and the above things dont so much add to each other as multiply.

as was, is, and ever shall be unfortunately. deal with it. i couldnt afford to run my "own" car (ie off of parental insurance) til i was 20 - and, for heavens sake, look what it is! (i could *just* have squeaked a 1.3, insurance wise)

harsh i know but ultimately hard to avoid.
