Sound good, I had writen a big post about a similar story of mine, But my computer crashed and i lost it before i posted it and decided just to goto bed.

Anyway here goes again.

I got my Gt for £100, again it was lying in the guys Drive for about 8-9 Months. He origionally wanted £250 but was talked down to £100 as it was that or scrap money.

The car is in great condition and has even got a spare Engine and a brand new set of 13" Alloys (even although they are fox 1's).
The problems with the body work so far (touch wood) is a small bit of rust/bubbling on the corner of the boot lid. Theres also a very small bit of paint bubbling at the bottom corner of the drivers door. Also when you open the drivers door there was a little surface rust on the sill. Also on the roof the laquer has started to peel. The badges are missing from the front grill as well.
Mechanically what we found wrong was the wipers arent working, hole in the exhaust, blowers for the heaters, window de-mister, High beam bulb out.
So far i have managed to get the sill rubbed down and primed but not yet painted. The heaters kept blowing fuses, so i replaced the 16Amp with a 25Amp and they now working fine. I baught a working wiper motor from the scrappies and fitted it but still the buggers were froze. From start they go half way (or just over) the full cycle then they slow down and stop. I have spreyed it with WD40 and tried wobbling them to try and free it up but had no success, so when i get more time i'll get new linkages and try that.

As for the spare engine that is work in progress  which should be a great laugh. but i'll keep that for after the new year.

If anyone has stayed awake to read this full post and can think of any way of fixing some of the problems mainly the wipers. Please feel free to let me know.

All of the GNH ones were registered at VW Milton Keynes. NH was one of the local prefixes.

I hate people that post pics up of black GTs, as they make me regret not buying one! :p That looks lovely, good to hear it's well maintained!

Any reason why the registered them in milton keynes? It sounds fairly randomn unless they have a huge site there or something...

The GT in my sig is a GNH as well. :D Also the other day I saw a white GT squareback round here with GNH too.

J755GNH and J927GNH are local.

I've also seen H456BNH on a red GT hatch locally, that's one off Mike King's plate (H457BNH).

I thought RP plates were Northampton not Milton Keynes, or is my geography crap and those are really close together? :?

Please excuse my skim reading of this thread, but that car looks mint!!

I am also a fan of black GTs - especially squarebacks!!

Oh, and Milton Keynes is not only the home of roundabouts, but also the home of VAG UK Headquarters!!

must have took him days with one a'them early 80s gearboxes

thats what... 15mph? :D

im thinking of the import-site thing myself... why not register them at the point of first contact with british soil?

theres all the rovers with MOA, etc plates on (birmingham, coventry).. but nuff fiats, too, surely they didnt share a site ever? though i can envisage the fiats being rolled out of containers fresh from boatyards, in a containerbase next door to a rover factory..
