is price reduction on twist permanent?

I ordered a polo from my local VW dealer (pursers in London) a while back and expecting delivery in 4 weeks (woohoo). Anyway, when I got home and had a look at the VW web site, I noticed that there has recently been a price reduction on the twist edition - but I was sold the car at the pre-reduction prices ( a difference of 690quid! )

When I asked them about this they said that the price reduction on the twist was a time limited offer and only applied to cars delivered before the middle of december, and as my polo isnt due until Jan, it wouldnt apply. I rang up another VW dealer and they seem to confirm this. Even though the information on VW.co.uk does not suggests its time limited. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you knew for sure if the price reduction on the polo is permanent - because if it is, I'll have to get the dealer to sort it out.

For Â£690 off - I'd tell em to deliver it now if thats the case - JM2pW

That was my first line of thought, but aparently there was at the time a shortage of the model I wanted - so it had to be done as a factory order.

I managed to haggle him down by almost that much before I put a deposit down - but if the discount is permanent then I believe some more haggle (or a shed load of extras) is in order before I pay the remainder on picking up the car.

I'd seriously love to know how to do that -- I swear, every time I walk in to a garage, people must see the invisible "sucker" sign painted on my forehead...

Im sure everyones got different techniques. In my case, I think it was because I had talked to two different dealers and had a few quotes from internet based brokers - so it was up to the dealer to convince me I should place the order with him. 5% off and a few extras did the trick.
