Get on a train over to birmingham, walk to the scrappy, buy an engine, use my sheer musclepower to singlehandedly carry the engine back onto the train, bribe a few conductors to ignore the mess I'm making of their nice new seats, get off the train this end and once again use my Heman status to carry the engine for the 2 1/2 hour walk to my house from the station...

Or I could just drive over ;)

Sadly though, engine conversions have got to wait until I've cleared..

Insurance
MoT
New windscreen
New alternator
New exhaust mid section
New brakes
New wheels/tyres

Maybe next summer after A2 exams etc.. although, I want enough money left for a road trip round europe at the end of the summer as well...
We'll see :)

if your carb's fixed you could just get a towbar/trailer hooked up and tow it home

fix whatevers wrong on the rangey with bits off of yours (or do a full scale bits transplant into the white car). sell the remainder as spares/repairs... or parts and a frame.

I'd be so tempted, but my parents would have none of it.. drive's too full, they don't want yet more bits of volkswagen cluttering up the garden :( Plus, I think towing a car with a 19 year old 1 litre hatchback 200 odd miles is pretty much bottom of my list of fun things to do ;)
It's a shame though, I would do that kind of thing but I just don't have the space really..

engines arent that heavy. take the gearbox off and plont it in your boot. simple. Why I had a gt engine in the boot of my mk2 just the other day. As long as both of you are able-bodied you could put the engine in the boot just the 2 of ya.

I seem to recall driving from Norfolk to Manchester - picking up a 1.4 engine and slinging it in a Polo MKIV 1.4 Boot and driving back from Manchester no probs

Cheapest way to get it home IMHO

Blimey some folk dont hang around do they, and get a bargain out of it to boot.

Started asking the guy about it and he said little other than that it sold - as a complete, running, perfectly good nick car just with a "little scuff" (!!!!) over a front arch.... for £250!

gutted! and this was AFTER i'd been to gsf as well (like a tool, forgot to ask guy if he had any more polo aerials about)
