Break pads where are the shims?

Post by James0121 »

Hello everyone

i have just got round to fitting my new ebc disks and pads. i have now fitted them but 5 mins round the block and back they are roasty toasty. So i think i may have left the shims in from the old pads, but when i removed the old pads i had a quick look and couldnt see them. Would these shims come out on the old pads or are they located in the caliper ? Ne1 any ideas?? :?

Cheers James

What are shims? Polo pads are one-piece, including clips. Maybe they're too thick?

ah ha indeed this seems to be the case. On the side the box it said to remove shims hmm well no wonder i couldnmt find any if they arnt there. Well after taking them apart again and making sure they were fitted correctly and clean it up some more went for another test drive. After 5 mins round the block again the disks were warm but the caliper and the pads were fine so off i went and after a good hour of driving they seem to have sorted themselves out. Well there we are another lesson i have learnt :D
