Top Gear Touareg Thrashing!!

Post by dxg »

(Sorry for posting this in this section - but can't think where else to put it)

Did anyone catch that? - I just got the end where he was complaining about rattles an oil warning light and the phone holder.

What excatly was said, does anyone know??

JC said VW were so concerned with his views they asked him to test another one - he did and said it was just as bad.

Short one (name=??) then called it the "VW Toe-rag" :(

Deek.

They were just saying that with the amount the car cost, and with VWs reputation, it should be something that doesn't happen.

Personally, I like it - had a good look at a silver one that was in Listers in Stratford upon Avon (maybe it's still there anyone wants to have a gander) - I really liked the interior styling - the ventilation controls on the central console were very nice. I could see JC's point about the phone holder though - that wasn't installed on the showroom car.

Oddly, I had expected it to be bigger. OK, it's big, but not as imposing as a Range Rover.

Of course, I can't comment on what it's like to drive.

Thing is, its worth 50K just for the V10 Diesel. It doesnt matter if it weighs one third of a tonne more than the V6, its still bloody awesome.

I just wonder how I'd be treated at my VW dealer if I parked a Touareg at the service garage and asked them to fix rattles!

Fifty Thousand Pounds (it's even scarier in my currency: £1 = R$4.80!).

And for a car that rattles like a Polo!? Never mind the diesel V10, VW sells lorries in Brazil that have engines as big as that one and possibly better-made cabins as well!
