Clatch Dead Again !!!

Post by wul3er »

Anyone else had problems with the clutch on 1.4 8v 's

Thats the second one thats in it since we got it and its away again. Luckly this time its getting fixed under warrenty, since its only been about 3 -4 weeks since it was fitted along with the gearbox.

The first one i can understand, The car was a lease car before we got it (never knew at first) and then i had it on the 1/4 mile which doesnt do much good. But this one has had a nice time.

Might not be anything to serious but rather annoying all the same.
Just when i thought i had been on my last train to work, lol

Definately something wrong with that. Newer clutches 2000+ don't last anywhere like as long as the old asbestos ones, and they really stink when you slip them.

In your case though, I would suspect a problem with the clutch release mechanism. Even Moreen from driving school on the telly couldn't burn a clutch out in 3 - 4 weeks, but I bet my sister would have a good bash.

Its now been repaired AGAIN, turns out there was a part missing from the clutch and also the clutch pedal was twisted which was causing some problems too.

So we now have a new pedal and the clutch has been repaired.

Lets count to when the next repair will be.

seems there is a problem that they need to fix. These are all symptoms. Maybe the gearbox has an oil leak into the clutch, or its misaligned. Don't get too upset with the car, the problem is VW servicing, not the car.

I always have to inspect and reject stuff that VW do on my car, until they get it right. Its shouldn't be that way, you should be able to leave them to it, and assume its all correct. But you can't.

My GF want to take it to VW, but the warrenty ran out ages ago.

I told her we'd have to get a morgage to pay them, and i have NO spare cash watsoever just now.

Feels like being in a never ending nightmare, Hopefully one day i'll wake up and the car will run happy ever after. (doubt it though)

i fell your pain mate, vw charge alot. Only thing is you should only need to get them to do it the once then if it goes wrong go in there and give them hell! They may know what is causeing it to happen that others dont.
perhaps they dont want the outsiders knowing! is your manual??

If you do find the money to go to a VW dealer, their work will be guaranteed for 12 months or 60,000 miles IIRC.
