Yep, it's sad really, but I think all mk3s are tumbling in value, including G40!!

Sad really, but then it does mean you can start collecting them for cheap!! :D

No idea on value, I'm afraid, but to help you sell it, why not leave it by the gate of the local college for a day with a for sale sign in the window?

The 17 year old girls might like it as a first car :)

Not a chance!! - no Mk3 is worth over a grand unless it's a G40 or is in mint condition!!

*No offence mind!!

I agree, you're only looking for a grand and up if it's a G40. You'll probably only get around £500-->£700 for your pink Polo if it's in good nick.

I wouldn't even say as much as that. Someone might take a shine to it 'cos it's pink - but then that's a turn off to others.

Presuming you're putting it back to standard, I'd say less than 500.

Not seen it in the flesh tho!!

I sold my last 1992 'J' Polo CL 1.3 squareback, high gloss black, mint bodywork as far as corrosion and structural condition is concerned (quite a few dings and dents though), absolutely mint interior, 80 something thousand miles, FSH, MOT and taxed for £590.

You should probably excpect around the £600 mark for yours I reckon.

When was that del?? - Cos unless i'm just being paranoid, I think the price of Mk3's has plummeted even in the last few months!!

Anyway, you can get a parkers valuation for a couple of quid. For some reason, they've started charging for older cars!! :x

Well winter does have that effect on car prices - but with cars this old, they just don't go up again!!

Still, might be able to afford me a 'runabout' G40 whilst I work on my GT!!

Well after i started talking semi seriously to a used car dealer (spotted a highly attractive Ibiza Salsa on his forecourt), he offered me £350 on the Polo for part-ex, which i was fairly chuffed about as he was actually selling a K-red in much better nick (albeit a Fox*, but i doubt that makes cock all difference nowadays) for £700. He let me in on the "secret" though --- he reckons it's only worth £150 to be kind, and usually he gives up to a £200 discount on the screen price if pushed...

"It's the plate that's against it", as he says - i.e. H-reg cars are now seriously long in the tooth and hitting their bottom-out value. Particularly as it's 1.05 litre and 4-speed... never mind the CL spec.

Bet i'd see it sitting there tidied up and blinged for five hundred the next week though :)
Though with a weekend's toil cleaning it, tidying up the worse scratches and wear-thru on the replacement door, finishing off the wing de-rusts and giving it a fuppin good T-cut and polish, there's bound to be a big enough mug out there who'll give me the £500 straight up. :D (and of course i'd claw dribs and drabs back by removing blings and selling them on seperately)

After all it's still a sound as a pound car in most respects, just some perfectly patchable things are a bit worn and need looking at.

* It doesnt have a clock, at all, just a big lumpy kind of motif to the dials. What's THAT all about?

Yeah, ask any garage and they'll give you much more than the cars worth part exchange. It's just one of the sales tactics!!

But then you knew that anyway!! 8)

@LOW - If you're not in a hurry to sell, I would put it in the local free ads paper for as much as you dare, then just progressively lower the price.

It may just be worth keeping it for what it's worth tho!!
