I've got an '04 reg 1.4TDi with the Beta radio and 6-disc changer fitted. I was having a look on ebay.de at the VW Satellite Navigation systems, but I'm not sure which ones are suitable for the current model Polo. Any ideas what I should be looking for in terms of models? I'd like one of the recent colour screen versions as opposed to the older b&w ones.
Also, would the wiring looms that are in place for my radio & CD player be the same as those required for the satnav? It would be nice if it was a straight swap-out, but I know that it's rarely that simple!!
Last question - if anybody knows - what would I need in terms of an aerial, and how would I fit it?
Lots of questions; any ideas appreciated! Thanks, Brian.
Fitting VW OEM SatNav?
I'm no expert and someone will probably come along and help you out a bit more, but to get you started:
- You need the older types, not the most current Mk5 Golf ones, look for a "D" version, in the standard double-DIN size
- You'll need a changer too as the SatNav won't play music CD's. This requires its own loom, obviously
- You'll need a SatNav antenna, the OE VW one (replaces the regular antenna and has both Radio and Nav in one, can be had with GSM as well)is very expensive, so you could look into getting a universal one
- AFAIK, the regular loom will in fact fire up the SatNav, the speedpulse is already there, but you *may* have to hook up a reverse wire
Hope that helps!
