ive just got my g40 front brake set up, does anyone do seal kits for them? they dont appear to have leaked but would like to do them properly before they go on.

well unless you try VW I dont know.

many years ago I tried to get hold of some from the local brake specialist and they could only get them for thr early mk2's and they are different.

if you do get some there is a nack to getting them back together.
from memory you need to do the following
1) put the seal in the groove in the caliper and make sure its seated correctly
2)steatch the dust cover over the piston so that the lip that lip that gets help in the calipers bore hangs over the end.
3) locate the end the lip on the end of the dust cover that over hanging the piston into the groove of the bore in the caliper
4) push the piston into the caliper bore
5)slide the other lip on the dust cover into the groove on the piston


if it doesnt make sense it will do once you've taken the caliper apart

You should be able to get brake piston seals and I think slider bush kits are still available (not cheap). Or you can get recon calipers from places like Gsf and ecp

thats what im after, a piston seal. is it a vw part or will places like ecp and gsf have them?
