ugrade gamma head unit

Post by jj86 »

Just wondering, has anyone upgraded their audio setup, whilst keeping the gamma head unit?
I seem to remember it only has 4 x 25output or something like that?

I'm thinking of adding maybe just a 12" sub first, then maybe changing the components up front and adding 6 x 9's later on.
Would I be better off forking out for a decent head unit (alpine perhaps) or is the gamma unit good enough?

go for an Alpine.. i was so surpised at the sound quality difference, even with standard VW Beta speakers.

gamma has 4x20W
good Alpine 4x50W (3 preouts 3 sub/amp :P )
even better Alpines 4x60W  enuff power, no amp needed for speakers :P

then just get a sub

Same here. Alpine owner. Currently I have Alpine HU, speakers and amp. But for a while I only had Alpine HU with stock speakers and the sound difference was kind of huge :P

Hi there, I am using my Gamma headunit with a sub/amp setup keeps the car looking stock but has a kick! 600W 4 channel amp wired to 12" sub and front components.

I wired up my amp to the Gamma using a "mini iso to rca" I got mine from autoleads. Here's a link to the site http://www.autoleads.co.uk/mini_iso.html Its dead easy to install yourself.

Good luck if you decide to stick with this option!
