URGENT LOWERING EMERGANCY!

Post by dubmk4 »

Took car in for suspension change new gmax shocks and springs with 50mm drop. garage could only get rear done due to front struts being to seized, BUT the back end with the new springs is HIGHER  than it used to be.Is this just the springs needing to settle down as there new and stiff then it will get lower? or is my car going to look for a land rover for the rest of its life. Bumpstops were trimmed as manual said.need help

I've been told the springs need about a week to settle. They won't stay like that. Chances are once you've been out for a good drive or two they will settle and 'lower' themselves.

if i am reading this right, the back is now lowered but the front isn't!

it does take time for the suspension to settle in and lower, but i think it might also have something to do with the front not being lowered! might need to be even to go down properly!

totally agree doug&dan (whichever it was who posted :p) when i did my coil-overs i did the rear first and there really wasnt a huge drop noticeable until i came to do the fronts then let it settle a day and hey presto 8)

i'd wait until the fronts are done before getting to stressed about it all
good luck

fronts went on today lookin sweet that end. rear is still abit of a landrover job. Could it be duff rear springs that came with the kit?

Or the coils are not seated correctly. Haven't looked closely at mine, but the coil has to be rotated all the way until you can't turn it more, otherwise it will be 1/2" too high and could be dangerous. But I find it difficult to believe that both would be wrong.

You could just get a really big Sub! Then you could claim special suspension setup for your ICE!
