My Engine Bay.... :?
My Engine Bay.... :?
I'm kind of confused.
I've come across this polo on eBay:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... Track=true
Similar to ours, but ours is a 1.4 on a Y plate, and it's not the match, it's an S spec, AUTO.
How-ever, if you have a look at the engine cover, it's slightly, or ALOT different from ours.
Our engine cover says 1.4i on it. Whats the difference between this one on eBay and our one?
Someone kindly clear up the confusion.
Will their be any differences with the actual engine since it's got a different cover?
4got to mention, our 1 has the 1.4 badge on the back.

I don't know, ours is just soooo different.
Anyone know what the difference maybe? I'm guessing that our car has had something done or changed, i'm not sure if it's a 60,75bhp or 100bhp version.
Insurance document says 60 (on their computers), V5 says 75, and the engine cover doesn't resemble the one on this car on eBay.
wul3er - Would be great if you could show me pics without the engine cover please, as i've got a photo of my engine without the cover, i didn't take any with it on.
EDIT:- I've found a photo of a 1.4 on eBay with the same type of engine cover as ours:-

OK lets clear this one up....
If you look at the top picture, you'll see that the HT leads go to the front. So thats an 8V engine, because the sparkplug is offset. However, the cover further down is a 1.4 16V engine, because it has two (very clear to see) camshafts and the sparkplugs run inbetween the cams. This is one of the reasons why 16V is better on emissions etc, the spark is in the centre of the combustion chamber. As far as I understand it the 1.4 16V is 75BHP, so the 8V is probably 65 or less. Don't confuse the 16V engine with the 16V trim level which is a different beast with 100BHP.
But VW's range can get very confusing as we have seen some 75BHPs with discs at the back, all manor of variations.
This is mine its 16V, see the plugs in the middle between the twin cam covers (the silver things).

[/img]Well like most things that use propellant, it will burn when sprayed on an incandescent material. So just wait for it to cool a bit. Besides the only hot bit should be the exhaust manifold cover, which I polished using brasso. And that brasso really works it took out the salt spots and it looks shiny. Well worth a few minutes of rubbing, or at least that's what the missus says...
