Could you use a Haynes Manual for your Mk5 (6N2)?

No - I like to drive my car until something breaks and leave it up to VW service to rip me off.

Haynes Manual

Post by JWC »

Hi,
If you look at the haynes website, you'll see that Polo's from 2000 on are considered for a new manual. This is great. Please email them and pester them then they might get their ass in gear.

Meantime, just how different is the Mk5 to the Mk4? I have seen the manual for the Mk4 at the shop, I thought if the Mk5 really is a facelifted version then this manual should be pretty close?

Mine is a 1.4 16V with all the trimmings including A/C - Being very technically minded I like to know what is going on with the car.

although it looks the same there are many parts that are different.

The only things that I can think of that are on both mk4 polo and mk5 polo, is the same parcel shelf, door handles, cant think of any more?

We need a haynes manual for the 6N2 fo shizzle!!!

Yep, I want one.

I've got the 94 to 98 (6n) Haynes Manual and also the Lindsay Perter's Volkswagen Golf and Polo Colour Manual but neither are any good for the 6n2.

Mr and Mrs Haynes... Please make us a book!

I really need a good manual for my 1.4se TDI because it's so incredibly difficult to know how to get at anything. Even changing the engine oil is a challenge.

What I don't need is to pay good money for a book where the author tells you to refer to the VW agent whenever he finds a bit he can't understand.

Its a nice car, engine goes like a rocket over 2,000 revs, but there's a weak, slightly rough bit around 1,600.

OK the suspension isn't exactly sports car standard, but the go-kart feeling is great.

i mailed them about 2 months ago and they replied that they weren't considering on printing one for the 6n2 for at least the next 8 months. so i guess what they really need is people to badger 'em about printing one!

I went to their site

says:

This manual is in production and will be published in Spring 2005

So hopefully it will be early spring. I know it does normally take em a couple of years at least to make these manuals. I imagine its a huge task, producing step by step guides for all the different models.

at last! seems they got a lot of people on their backs about printing one. i hope they cover all models INCLUDING 16v. I think for the 6n they didn't cover 16v engines did they?

I mailed Haynes last week and they replied stating that the manual is due to be published in February 2005, but they had no confirmed date, and suggested I contect them in February.

As soon as one is avaliable I'll be buying one - 6n2 will be next purchase so it makes sense to buy a manual as soon as it's available
