Mk4 Dashboard Lights

Post by ClublandPolo »

Hi all
just thought id introduce myself first, iv only just discovered this site - it's packed with handy stuff eh
I hav a project Mk4 that well on its way to being completed, but one thing's always bothered me - the green dashboard lights, and namely the rev counter lights. i like the blue from new golfs and red from audi's but i was just wondering if anyone's got any links to replacement rev colours for a polo? sorry if this has been brought up b4. had a wee look round 2 c if it had, but no luck 8)
ok, thanks for any help u can throw my way
cheers

I also wanted to do it but it seems that there is a lot of soldering work and little leds and somethings might break ( like the needles). Since i'm not very handy with electrics i'm leaving it alone untill i can find someone that can do it for me.

But I was going for this type of colour:

http://www.blue-polo.de/frame_tacho.htm

I also thought about buying one already made on ebay but... i'm not a ebay fan.

If you get this through i would like to know more since all the sites i find are in german. English would be nice!

I've seen a better one... like bstardchild mentioned.
Its the stock 6n dash but with bright blue lighting instead of green and actual red LEDs used for the redline and such displays... looks really sharpe and clear.
I would like to do this conversion aswell... maybe another time.

Once I've done my conversion I'll have a spare set of clocks (I bought a brand new set of clock to convert  ) - so I plan to keep them as a back to stock unit if I ever sell the car or can convert them as an exchange set for anyone else that wants a set provided I always get a std set back in exchange

Anyone interested?

Lets say we exchanged them... how easy would it be to install? And what kinda costs would I be looking at?

Fairly easy - I'll do a how too when i do it

Costs depend on the cost of the blue red conversion - should have it done within the next month - I'll update this post when I have

You seem like a nice guy... so whats the progress on your dash conversion?
Would I have to come up to get it swapped around?

Had some other stuff ahead of the dash conversion - like a garage conversion which should be finished soon...... All my cars are on the drive at the moment getting wet, cold and snowed on so getting them undercover is No'1

Re the swap - I could post the pod or fit here depends on where you are

Yeah thats basically the same one I've seen... but pics in the dark.
Would it be possible to put red LEDs where the dial is illuminated? So you end up with a red pointer kinda like the newer VWs...

BstardChild, are the conversion like as in the one in the link?
