righty oh ive been to the scrappys yesterday and there was 2 mk2 squarebacks in they look to have different carbs to my own polo coupe s. is there much difference in the 2 or will they give a slight increase int the power zones as they belong on a heavier car or am i just askin randem nonsense?

there should be a pierburg carb for your unless you find a weber replacement which would be a bargain.

what year is your polo?

its a d plated 86 mate dont think the carbs are webbers but i aint sure cuz there was a few performance item in the engine bay when i had a look. plus im not sure where to look on the carb to find wat it is

The 1L and 1.1 engines had pierburg 1b3 carbs iirc this is different to the coupe S carb which is a 2b3 and no it wont give you a performance boost but it will make the engine run like a hamster on dope.

Unless you find a webber (also found on 1300 mk1 golfs) it isnt worth taking the carbs of anything else.
The 32DMTR webber is a straight swap (with an adaptor plate) onto the standard inlet manifold and will give 5-6Bhp approx.
