is this a problem!!!

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

Hi, i was just checking out how to fit a induction kit b4 buying one as i dont want to get 1 if i cant do it myself. So i removed the airbox and there was a wire underneath which got slightly pulled. i started the engine at it was revving slightly. it looks like a bicycle brake cable and slackened a metal thing it was around. i pulled it back so that its tightened and not slack. the metal clip is way away from bracket. Have i done something seriously wrong, i put the rest of it back however can some1 tell what this is and what i did accidently will not effect the cars tuning or something or is not a serious cable.

it seems to lift a lid on the engine top when u pull it. Can some 1 tell me how this is meant to be ASAP and whether the way i left it is ok as i dont remember how it was. I bet this is not something impt but jus dont wanna risk it,,,cos i know little bout engines....just about how to change the liquids. Lol. thanks

lol

That's the accelerator cable. That valve that opens is the throttle. If it's fine, it's fine - meaning, don't worry too much about it, just try and put it back where you found it.

lol Thanks for that Speedlaw, was getting a bit worried, revs are fine and stays idle on 9 on the rev counter so i think its normal,, phew.

it is tight on the metal bar thingy,, not slack, u can put it both ways, i put it tight, is that right?? not sure.

So thats the throttle body yep, the revs are fine now, so i think i will leave it as it is, unless that metal thing is meant 2 be slack. So the valve opening goes into the airbox and there was another pipe that i had a hard time putting back, (thin rubber 1, fits on left side of airbox, what is this meant to be?? if i fit a cone air filter (univeral) does it mount onto throttle valve with the airbox removed?. If it does then the thin rubber pipe (under the air box) where does that go and where does the other pipe that is connected to the top (flexipipe going to intake) go. As both of these will be bare. Any Ideas.

I believe that thin rubber pipe is a return feed for excess fuel. Not sure though. May be a vacuum line, whatever that is. Don't really know what's at the other end either.
