MK5 Headlight bulb change

Post by lazy »

Hi,

I know this has been asked before, but the answers provided were not detailed enough.

Can anyone please tell me how to change the damn passenger's side headlight bulb? I have spent almost an hour trying to remove the old bulb, but without success.

What's the best way of doing this? I can't seem to remove the back plastic cover behind the unit.

Many thanks

unscrew the battery and move it out the way to give you more room to take the cover off

Yup, as above, remove the battery completely and then the black plastic will come off quite easily, just be VERY carefull when removing and re-fitting the bulbs as the headlight (insides) are very brittle and break (trust me i know as i spent £61 on a new one a couple of weeks ago)

Good Luck

Ok, thanks for the advice.

I'll give it a go this weekend. I had an MR2 Turbo before and even changing lights on that seemed a doddle compared to this, and that had pop-up headlights!

DON'T disconnect the battery completly unless you've got the code for the radio or a aftermarket radio or your gunna cause yourself grief
