wonder if its possible to fab up some stuff that would let you mount an 085 box onto an engine designed for an 020 (or whatever the code is they're now using) :)

apart from the bodywork, at 81k i'd say its probably the most solid thing on the mk3... (ok mine's an 084 but thats probably an even better endorsement, as 4th is getting used oh so much more than it otherwise would!)

Hey Cadey,

Sorry to hear about the fault but this not having a courtesy car is a bit off isn't it? I would call warranty customer services and log a complaint, I'm sure that they will be able to do something...I remember when I had my pedal box replaced they mentioned that if the dealer didn't offer me a courtesy car that I should ring the customer services and they would ring the dealer for me...may be they could do the same especially since from the sound of it you haven't had one in the past...

Only just found this thread...............

Cadey i'm feelin' for ya with this one................. So far i've had more probs with my GTi that my other three previous cars put together...........

Probs so far (That i can remember off hand)....................

Broken passenger side air-vent (replaced)
Cup holder / coin tray broken (replaced)
No code for radio when car bought from dealer (dealer sourced code)
Only one key when car bought from dealer (took 6 weeks to sort new one)
Small oil leek (repaired)
Boot light sensor broken (replaced)
Rear washer leak (repaired)
Car valeted 3 times by dealer due to water stains caused by above mentioned washer leak in pipe running through cabin.
Pedal box re-call (car in dealers for 4 weeks)
Water leak into cabin resulting in half an inch of standing water in Passenger footwell (car in dealers for 2 weeks while they took two attempts to find leak)
Drivers side passenger window button faulty (replaced)
Both drivers side windows buttons go haywire (repaired)
All four BBS rims corrosion issue (rims refurbed)
Passenger door mirror heater broken (replaced)
Front bumper bump strip replaced after dealer chipped 4" long section of strip
Suspected washer system leak AGAIN... Rear washer takes 2 seconds before water comes out and washer bottle empties in around a week. (Dealer states they cannot find any leaks but still have prob with rear washer operation time and also pools of water under drivers side headlight washer!!!)
Strange noise coming from rear brakes (Like when using car for 1st time and rust on disks) (Dealer checked and cleaned brakes and says nothing wrong but still get the same noise)
Just found out centre exhaust bracket has gone!!!

As you can see i feel your pain mate.....

Cheers

Dave.
