fitting new dials
Can ne1 help me fitting new dials to mk4 polo? where do I start?? thanks[/list]
its quite a pain changing the dials. I did mine and came very nice at the end but required a long and patient job. You need to first take off the steering wheel. if you have an airbag, disconnect the battery first and leave it for 10minutes. Then remove the two screws at the back of the steering wheel, and the middle part of the steering comes off, then there is a big nut which holds the steering wheel to the column, undo it and the steering wheel comes off. Then there are 4 torx screws which needs to be untied, two at the top, and the other two very near to the steering column. These are quite difficult to undo. I had to buy a torx bit, grind it to make it short, and then use a long nose to undo it.
when the job is done, you have to undo some other torx screws to remove the clocks. there is a cable at the back which needs to be take out first before remove the clocks.
then the big problem is removing the needles. extreem care is a requirement. I used a fork and a knife to leaver the needles. be careful here because the motors of the clocks can be damaged.
Hope this helps. its quite a long job but worth it
