Shows ok.. but really, really dangerous on the road. Not only will you be down to a tyre that's dangerously skinny for anything faster than an old granny's pace (trust me, I've only just got rid of my 145's and good riddance..), but you'll be damaging their handling charactoristics as well. Plus you have to worry about them becoming unseated because they're stretched so far, and the sidewalls will probably die after a few hundred miles as tain said.
I'd think really, really carefully before using a tyre so far outside it's limits - it's your only contact with the road, you've got serious safety considerations there.

are you sure you mean 145s and not 165s?
heres a pic of a 165/45/15 stretched over a 7" rim, it looks mental!

Steve_O your wheels are only 6" wide
Ive got a slight stretch on my 165/55/14s on my GT, theyre on 6" rims but i definately wouldnt want them to be stretched any further than they are now:

165s on anything wider is just crazy imo

Dammit - I put 6 down first, then changed my mind!!Gareth_GT_Hatch wrote:Steve_O your wheels are only 6" wide
The fact that my 185s are on 6 inch rims rather than 6.5 only strengthens my point tho - 145s onto 7 inch is f'ing crazy - and probably impossible!!
@Del, I think the only reason for doing it is looks!! Spose you could also do it to fit wider wheels without scrubbing - but i'm of the opinion that wider tyres means more grip and better handling!!

yeah I did it for scrubbage avoidance over looks, but they look quite good as well which is a bonus of me having to compromise tyre width. But I probably could have got away with 185/50s looking back. I will know for sure when the car gets lowered in a few weeks time.Steve_O wrote:Dammit - I put 6 down first, then changed my mind!!Gareth_GT_Hatch wrote:Steve_O your wheels are only 6" wide![]()
