avic-x1 install (info about speed pulse line)

Post by SamY »

Does any one have an Pioneer avic-x1 head unit in their polos?

Im looking through the installation manual and wondering if the polo 9n has something called a vechile speed circuit - or speed pulse generator that the head unit can tap into.

-update-

I was reading through the beta radio manual, and noticed that it has a feature called GALA - which adjusts sound volume based on the speed of the car. I've just got an email from Pioneer which suggests that the white/purple line on the ISO cable of manual polos can be used to get the speed pulse.. Wohoo!

I remember reading before that some third party head units sometimes connects to this pin on the ISO cable, causing problems for various electronic systems, and blowing up diagnostic equipment.

The cable that causes possible problems to the diagnostics tools is the k-line wire and not the speed pulse wire.

Thanks n3oNx.

Luckily the k-line isnt connected to anything on the avic-x1, so it shouldnt affect any diagnostics.
