good old scrappy

Post by Gray6634 »

just spent 15 quid at my local scrappy and i got a parcel shelf without 2 silly big holes for speakers which the one that came with the car did. i got the cold air intake off the air filter system (spi) gt/genesis steering wheel, the cap off the top of the brake fluid with the level sending on it, mine was snapped. I got the towing eye for towing from the front. I got the crome inserts off an older polo Mk2 on the door handles. i also got a newer rocker cover for the purpose of spraying red because mine is destroyed. Not bad for 15 notes i say. Just need some nice alloys 14/15 inch for a reasonable price and my smoked rear lenses i got off ebay to arrive. (just gt ones not lexus!!)

Sounds like a good trip to the scrappy in my opinion.

where the hell do you people find these magical scrapyards?

without exception, ALL of my local ones are sh*te... there's a couple promising ones, but they're very Local in a charvered up League of Gents way... i would SO get my arse kicked three ways trying to go in.

even the one that got a mk2 polo in that looked suitable cannibal-fodder SOLD it complete (probably to a cut'n'shut shop...!)

even if it was just to find a towing eye and an undamaged brake fluid cap (need 'em myself)

£15 for the lot?! bargain!

I'll keep my eye out next time I'm at the scrappy. Shouldn't think he'd want more than a couple of quid for a towing eye and a brake fluid cap..

eh, i dont think its worth it anymore dude, but thanks for the offer.

feel free to get em for yourself :D

i thought the towing eye went in a screw hole hidden under the rear bumper, by the way? there should be one welded in place at the front, by law..

Best trip to the scrappy recently for me was two door cards (got them to re-trim in black buckskin - sometime soon), two strut rods and two window wiper arms and a couple of little trim bits I think... all for £5.

On the Mk3 the towing eye screws into either front or back behind removal panels in the bumpers.
