the topic of fuel consumption arises often here, so heres what I did on my trip down south this week.
my car:
97 1.4 8v
k&n induction skit
back box
lowred 40mm on springs
using regular unleaded
15 inch wheels on 195/50
(yeah I get sligh scrubbage on well sharp turns from the front - something which I never used to get on the last set of tyres of the same size)
259.2 miles to and from carlisle on 32.95 litres (£26 at 78.9), mainly doing 70-75
- 35.8mpg
287.8 miles to bournemouth on 32.32 litres (£25.5 at 78.9), mainly doing 80mph on the m'way, with some ques and then having to be doing normal roads from the m5 to bournemouth, with lots of dropping into 4th to over take and crusing at 60 in 5th when possible
- 40.47mpg
293.4 miles for bournemouth to falmouth and back to exeter on 36.63 litres (£30 at 81.9) first half mainly doing 85-95, with some slower bits and some having to over take slower stuff on the single lane bits, second half 75mph ish and 60 on single carridgeways
- 36.44mpg
theres another tank load to work out, but, i put a tenners worth in at sandbach as it was 84.9 and i didnt want to fill up at that, and i only needed a bit to get home (i havent yet filled up again since to know the final figure)
but theres still the journey from falmouth to cardiff to manchester to work out.
average mpg of 37.
(i've made a flash thing that you can type in your miles, your litres/cost/cost per litre, your gallons, your mpg and it works out the figures you didnt type in - will upload and link to when my servers ftp responds...)
