How do i take off the gearknob ?

It is split, and I have taken of ther foam bit.

There is a plastic bit underneath though ?

hi there

If you go in the diy section of the forum and go to page 2. There is a post regarding changing the 6n gear knob for a golf one. If you look at that it explains how to remove it and there are photos to :D

I changed mine for the golf type using this post it makes it simple and its clear to understand.

Thanks for your help mate, got it pretty much sorted now.

I've cut away the bottom bit of the plastic, with the retaining clip on too, so it will hold the leather gator in place.

Just need to sort out the new gearknob now, as the hole tappers at the top, and is a bit tight.

I thought the original would just be a screw on job, and couldn't find anything in the haynes manual.

Thats cos they are made from cheap and nasty foam.
Get another one mate, and have a look at that DIY guide, its really well written, and easy to follow.
