ok..QPe won't be needed for myself now.
I've decided to rule them out and a mate is helping with wiring the lump on standard management/ECU. He's done it on 2 cars so far...shouldn't be hard and cheaper than QP Engineering.
Isn't the golf's gearbox a 6speed? so i would need the 02j out of another car. It looks like the 180bhp AUG unit will be harder to find for myself....so a 225BAM might go in if i find out theres one cheap enough.
The radiator on the 16v is the same as the other polo's: 630x380mm
How big is yours?
I now know that i can indeed use the G60 discs, pads (minus 5mm) and new shims, calipers on my 16v hubs/carriers...the carrier can also be changed to a G60 but this will work fine.
Its been done already by about 3 different people on porka.net.
If i can get the brembo kit at cost price through a mate then that will go on, but i do want dished rims...so is gonna sting me there.
Let me know by email or when your next on so i can get that part number for the seat actuator, size of radiator and mainly the measurements for the box sections for the mounts...everything else is now sorted i think.
Apart from perhaps who can make me up some mandrel bent piping for the intercooler/induction?

Good luck with the wiring it's a nightmare, have some wiring diagrams if you need them, which you will! Dont forget to get the ingition barrell key and clocks along with the ECU yo'll need all these parts to overcome the immobiliser.
The 225 BAM unit has different pistons to the AGU and different exhaust manifold/ turbo. It would be worth doing as you get 225bhp straight away
Expect to pay more though.
The O2J transmission is a five speed box, however if you get A BAM engine it will probably come with a six speed box with closer ratios.
The only downside is that the six speed box is physically bigger than the five speed boxes and tend to sit lower, check your ground clearance.
Thanks for the info on the radiator dimensions and I will e-mail you the dimensions for the box sections and other meaurements.

this aint the end of this post mate...i'll keep checking every night to see if you make progress or find out some new information, what i will be doing is using the 5 speed box with the BAM unit...
Thats if i find a 225 cheap enough, but i'll still keep my eye out for a 180bhp version in the meantime.
Any ideas as to who is welding your downpipe? are you gonna use a wider pipe, cos i now have a golf mk4 haynes and it looks to me like after the turbo it splits into two pipes...if its showing right.

Hello Dubprince,
the down pipe is a single pipe, however it need to be at least 2 1/2 inches wide due to the fact is has to bend to the right then down and the a 90 degree bend under the car, this will aid gas flow as when you up the boost, the exaust gasses need to escape as quickly as possible, other wise you'll fry your turbo.
I am having a full stainless system made by a copmpany called Blue Flame in warrington and having a high flow cat fitted. I plan on having twin exhaust pipes similar to the Audi TT. They can also tune the sound of the exhaust to your liking. The best part is the fact that you can have the exhaust boom between 1000 -3500 revs then quiten down so you dont hear the drone of the exhaust on the motorway. Clever eh?

Blue flame aye...they did the mk3 black polo with rear wheel 225bhp TT engine right? or i think it actually runs a hybrid turbo of some sort, not sport K04.
They're good qaulity...is it proper grade steel? or like powerflow..only slightly mild steel in there too.
I would like to use a 5speed box definately or else i would need to alter my subframe to accept the 6speed box, which isn't an option for me as i wanna go low on coilovers.
would you say i would get problems with an 02j 5speed box and 225bhp?

Sorry mate I've been off work for a week as my wife gave birth last monday.
The fivespeed O2J should be fine but use an uprated clutch as the standard clutch isnt that good wit the standard 150BHP due to the lack of ventilation in the bell housing.
Blue flame did make the exhaust for the rear engined mk3 polo, but I won't need anything quite so extravagant. did look good though. The car ran a Jabba Sport IHI rollerbearing turbo with a ceramic coated exhaust manifold. A couple of grands worth of kit! I'm unfortunatly not that rich.

Sorry bout the late reply, my internet has been down for a while...
Ok well 02j 5 speed it is then, with uprated clutch...shouldn't be more than $200 odd...
Hows yours coming along? any pics/measurements part numbers you can mail me mate when your free...i'm still on to get stuck in this june! hoping to complete it by end of the summer if i can.
Still wondering who can sort me some drive shafts too...i may hang on about them until you get yours done...main priority for me is to have it in the car and running by september if time permits it. Then i'll worry about making the car move after and making it stop.
