Noise from top of drivers door at speed...

Post by monkey_boy »

took the car out for its first big jaunt on the weekend, at around 70/80 there seems to be alot of wind noise coming from the top corner of the drivers door up where the seat belt height thing is on the door post? basically a rather annoying whistle, first off I had nightmare visions of the car being broken into in a previous life and having the door removed or something.... but I have checked the history out and it seems fine.

Is there any history with door seals or anything? I have checked seals and they seem fine? I was thinking of getting a pair of those wind breakers plastic thing you fit in the seal.... but they might look a bit crap and might not stop the noise.

get some strips of paper and see if you can trap them in the door seal. If you can pull them out really easily then it obviously isn't sealing. Compare it with the other side.

The positive pressure in the cabin should exit through the door bottom. A whislte from the top indicates that the door isn't fitted correctly.
