I think you're best off getting a fitted alarm rather than one off ebay - fitting will cost a lot even if the alarm is cheap.

meta systems do a pretty respectable alarm setup. I find that insurance doesn't go down even if you fit a CAT1 alarm, as the insurers request a cat2 immobiliser only.

anyhow, these start at about 160 fitted.

the cheapest I have found near Birmingham is

http://www.microtechnics-alarms.co.uk

but the website is down it seems?

Going to get mine fitted soon too - group buy anyone?!

man dont skimp on ur alarm system

ur car is looking very nice if thats urs in the sig pic

i would either save up n get a decent system

for me the alarm was another mod and if ur like me u'll always want better

some companys will offer you finance which could mean u could get a better system and spread the payments albeit + interest

clifford 650 with glass break, prox and tilt 'n' motion is the daddy imo

never had any probs with mine n works superbly

So did any of you guys get your alarms in?

I've been thinking about getting one installed... are they THAT hard to install?

How much would it cost for a fitted alarm?

I see some on ebay for like £20-50.

Also might install a cat 2 immobaliser.
Again how much will they cost fitted... perhaps a total alarm and immobaliser package u know of... anyone?

iv got a scorpion alram in my mk4 and its brill, got my sensors just infront of the front two windows so they can look all the way down the car an not miss a trick !
Was in there when i brought the car though, so i can only recommend it as a good alarm, as i dont know how much it cost or how hard it is to fit !

I bought my alarm from Flea-bay for abt £45 odd, came with a Shock Sensor and has an Ultrasonic movement detector which is nice.

Main thing is that it works, is cheap and keeps idiots away from my car. What i didn't know was that it costed me £130 for the fitting lol.

It can take a couple of hours for the fitting, its not hard if you know what your doing, but you need patience, and you need the right tools. Mines was an all day job as i decided to have central locking motors fitted is well.

The labour for the alarm if i didn't have central locking done would have only cost me £65 roughly, which isn't too bad =)

Central locking motor's you can buy from maplins for 20 quid, but they're a pain in the ass to install as it can take several hours to do all the doors. Central locking really makes life alot easier, definately a mod worthwhile
