Switchblade Key
Hi everybody
I was just cruising the web and found this little mod and I thought " Why not do the same for my Polo!"
But some questions, where can i get a blank swtichblade key? Do the dealers have them? And how much should they be €€ wise.
My idea was to get a blank switchblade key, go to a shop and make a copy of my key on to it.
What do you reckon?
Pedro

But the issue is getting the key. I've tried ebay and only found an american seller that doesn't even know what a Polo is let alone if it will fit. and their blanks are custom made, so not OEM material. I really wanted the one in the picture from pocket rocket, i think it's the Golf MKIV key. I'll ask Martyn if they can supply blank keys, but i doubt it. Will also try the dealer here in Lisbon.
But if everything else fails, does anyone has contacts of private sellers? Or even on german's ebay? Since I don't understand german I don't use it, even tough it has far more parts for the Polo than british ebay.
If I make any progress I'll let you know

Have a look at this auction, it's an alternative you may want to consider. It gives you two flipkeys with a remote control unit, which bolts onto the OEM central locking function. It's fairly easy to install I think. Plus, the remote actually works! You'll have to install your car's original keys and transponder though, in order for the immobiliser to work.

If you want OEM per sé, have a look at these:
OEM Porsche:

OEM VW:

And see this guide on what's involved - it's in Dutch but the pics show a lot.
Cleaned.
(Run it through Babelfish to figure out more)

Ok, i liked the VW one but the Porsche OEM is so so so so beautiful that i have to have it!!!
As Martyn stated blanks from VW are a no no, they don't supply them but it seems there is a place in London that sells them, if anyone is from that part of the city... I' from Portugal so that's out of the question. But worth a check anyway
But since I don't have all those tools ( like the dremel) and stuff this is what i thought
Get a porsche key from ebay like the one Speedlaw shows above and then get a universal blank that will fit the porsche key, kinda like thisone
I'm going to email them so see how it is to fit their universal keys, if its easy enough, like just taking of a screw or something, i'm doing it.
I'll let you know how this goes
Thanks,

now these aint original vw stuff. but these are similar and add remote central locking to your car. Im gonna get one but am figuring out how to wire one in b4 going ahead. It is compatible with Polos pneumatic central locking, but am not completely sure on how to connect it. any ideas??
