Some advice please chaps!

Post by 1 litre land rover Dave »

I got a Mk5 6n (i think), good old 1 litre job! Black, no mods on exterior. 16" OZ titans (boring) proxies 195/45R 16 80V.

Want to know best coilovers. Induction kit's, exhaust system and better tyre size/make. Any other bits and bobs worth a look?

Cheers to anyone who can shed some light on the subject.

firtstly, welcome to the forum!! secondly i no someone we call land rover dave! haha

thirdly is it a mk5 or a 6n? a mk5 is a 6n2 which is the one that production run from 2000 till 2002! is this the one u are talking about or is it the 6n which was produced between 1994 to 2000?

as for mods, K&N do an induction kit for the 6n2 which sounds real nice, they also do replacement elements but as there are two elements this turns out to be expensive!

remus do a nice selection of exhaust but its worth giving companys a bell and see wot they do, i now other people have other exhausts on the forum!

also worth looking for the little interior touch's, such as door pins, gear knob, pedals are all place to go if u ask me!

hope that helps

regards

welcome to the forum :waves:
there seems to be a growing number of 1 litre owners which is good :)
i'd have to agree with doug with the above, but im really pleased with my Scorpion Dtm backbox i got from http://www.deutscheperformance.co.uk/pa ... urer=scorp
its not too loud, but loud enough and is very deep, and makes a nice booming sound as you change down gears 8)
it don't sound like a 1.0 anymore!

Hi Chaps,

Thanks for the kind welcome!!

So let me get this striaght, I have the same model as Ben's. Is that a MK5 or a 6N????? (confused) oh it's an X reg (2000)

K&N Induction Kit, Remus or scorpion exhausts. Thanks

What about the best coilovers (reasonably priced). Are the FK highsports just the job or what?

Tyre size is a problem for me, I want to be riding real 'low pro's' any suggestions??? I'm on Proxies 195/45r/16 80v. I have had them on a couple of years now, I need a better looking tyre!!

Thanks again Doug and Ben!!

Hi Dave,

Sounds very much like your Polo is a 6n2, aka Mk5, just like Ben's, and mine in fact 8)

For coilovers, you're best bet may be the FK highsports or a set of H&R coilovers. Either have been recommended a number of times by various board members - the H&R suspension will let you drop the car by up to 100mm for that slammed look. Tyre-wise you can get a 195/40/16 profile tyre, which as far as I know is the lowest profile rubber you can get on a 16" rim. Cyhliu's GTi has these tyres on 16" BBS rims:
