Rear rear lights HELP!!!!!!

Having problem with my mates mk4 polo.

He bought some mk5 rear rears and ive tried connecting them like in the 'DIY' guide but we get a disco light effect!

Can someone kindly take some photos of their own setup so i can copy the wires or tel me which ones to connect up

PLEASE HELP!!

As I was trying to "swap" my (mk4) and my dad's (mk5) the only problem was position/wiring of indicator and brake lamp. If you switch those two wires it has to work...

done that.

guys ive done engine wiring looms, house wiring etc etc but this one has got me stuck. its a right b***h

tell us exaclty what's happening, otherwise it's difficult to figure out what might be wrong.

perhaps something was damaged in the swap over, like an earth?

I can see no logic explanation for that - when I mounted mk5 light it worked fine just colour of light wasn't right. So if you just swap wires it should work. Only reason for that is damage of some wire...
