1.4 8v and 16v peformance figures?

Hello ppl!
First post on here! I currently have a mk6 1.6 '98 Ford Escort and am cheesed off with it!
My sister is getting a 1.4 CL 8v in the next few months and i like the look of the 1.4 16v. Could anyone please tell me the 0-60 and torgue of these two engines! Am i right in thinking the 8v has 60bhp and the 16v has 100bhp? I've currently got 90 in my escort, and being larger than a polo its slow! Plus i have air con which slows it down!
My mum has a mk4 golf tdi and that is seriously faster than my car!!

You are right in saying that the 16v has 100bhp as standard, think the 8v is 65bhp though. I myself have the 16v and can tell you that 0-60 is pretty quick. The only engine mod I have made is a performance air filter in the OE box (which has made a difference). I think VW probably quoted the 0-60 at being about 10 seconds but mine is definatley quicker than that. Have no problems beating cars with alot bigger engines off the line.

Found out 2day its not even registered to me! Still to the Ford garage i bought it from a year ago, even though i have the log book!

Mine used to be a 1.4 8v untill recently. i did a 16v conversion, and the difference is amazing. The 16v is such a wicked engine, revs so nicely.
And you can easily annoy the buisness men in there beemers and stuff on the motorway on off the lights

not that i would do such a thing

16vs are great fun! Vw also play down the figures, im not 100% sure why, but i know most 16v polos run about 2-5bhp over the list of 100bhp, i know someone who got 117bhp on a totally standard 16v! most seem to push between 105-110bhp though
