headlight washers

Post by Berto »

Hello, I have a 6N2 1.4 16V with the xenon headlights of the GTI, but I haven't headlight washers, and I would like install them.. I've seen that the water tank is diferent, bigger and prepared for the 2nd water motor, it's a 2 piece tank with one part under the lateral fender? the original water tank has the hole for the 2nd motor?

would be suficient installing the 2nd water motor conected with a relay to only run with lights on?

anybody made this conversion?

thanks a lot

P.S.: if this is not the most adequate forum to ask this, please feel free to move to the adequate one

the headlight washers themselfs have motors to raise them up out of the bumper, I think the washer tank is just bigger, the normal is 2 litres, the gti is 5.5 litres. I'll have to go have a look for you but i think your main prob is gonna be connecting everything up so that they switch on when u got ur lights on etc and obv u need the gti bumper.

They work automatically when you use the windscreen washer with the headlights turned on......That's the only time they work.

Cheers

they haven't motors, they raise by water pressure, I'm sure, I changed a faulty washer of my Passat

my question is, how is electrically connecter the water pump for them? runs at the same time as the normal pump only when lights are turned on, or has any relay with delay?
