Post by Silva_B!tch_Owner »

My friend got pulled over yesterday by Police, they done a random search and found nothing, but they checked up his driving license and s**t, he just has a provisional and the car was taxed, mot'd, insured and his, they just told him he's gonna get a a letter to go to court, anyone know what he'll get? a ban maybe and a fine?

bare in mind though that if he was in by himself he's insurance is invalid so its hard to say what will happen.

I got done for the same in 2002, got letter through asking if i wanted to goto court or admit the offence on the paper..admitted it and gave a story how i had just had a driving lesson with a friend and got a bit carried away and went out on myself....how it was a stupid thing to do and how i had risked my licence.

I got £50 fine and 3 points

To be honest it was up there with the dumbest things i've done..if i had ran over someone or hit a car i would have been F*****!!

What they normally do though is prosecute on whatever would give the most points and fine..so in that case it would be no insurance (6 points) big fine.

Using a vehicle uninsured against third party risks: IN10 6-8 points
Driving otherwise than in accordance with a license: LC20 3-6 points
Both carry fines depending on the mood of the magistrate.

So he could get up anything from 3 to 12 points and a fine. The points will also last through his probationary period after he's passed his test, so even if he only gets three points, he's one speeding ticket away from a disqualification :?

Edit: Insurance premiums will also more than likely go up. Not a good situation really :(

I got done for No licencse, insurance and Dangerous driving (its not big and certainley not clever)

I got away with 6 months ban, NO points and £250 fine, which i thought was really good all things considered. That was the judge saying they were being harsh on me. I feel it worse now right enough when i phone for insurance.

First two years the limit is lowered from 12 points to 6. Right bugger that one is, makes me absolutely paranoid. Eight months to go until I can relax a little..
